Bees are flying insects closely related to wasps and ants, known for their role in pollination and, in the case of the best-known bee species, the western honey bee, for producing honey. Bees are a monophyletic lineage within the superfamily Apoidea.
Types of Bees
There are several different types bees in the ecosystem. Scientist have explored over 20,000 species of bees of which 270 of them where found in some part of the world as in UK , USA, Ghana and some other countries.
The most popular type of them is the Honeybees which are mostly kept by bees keepers . Honeybees are also mostly kept in colonies.
Another familiar type of bees is the bumle Bees which also lives in social colonies. They are mostly found in holes, tree cavities and also building crevices at times.
The last one I will mention is a solitary bees which are the type that nest on their own. The solitary bees comprises several genes which is
the mason mining bees that lives underground, the mason bees also nest in holes, banks and dead wood.
The is the leaf cutter which also nest as the mason bees in the holes, banks and dead wood
With Bees I can talk on and on about their types but the main reason for this lecture is to educate you on what does a bee sting look like.
Does bees sting?
what does a bee sting look like
May be you are what does bee sting looks like right?. I will tell, normally, bee venom is not toxic and will only cause minor pain and swelling. The allergic reaction only comes from the immune system . When the immune system is over sensitized to the venom and produces antibodies to it, histamines and other substances are released into the bloodstream, causing blood vessels to dilate and tissues to swell.
Honey bee stings have a barbed ratchet featuring and pawl that pulls the stinger into the initial wound. Stinging is not considered as suicidal to the bee – honey bees can pull their stings out after stinging other insects.
When honey bees sting mammals or human, they are unable to pull the stinger and therefore they die. Anytime a bee stings a human it dies.
it just happens that mammal skin is too fibrous to release the sting, so the abdomen is torn open when the bee tries to escape afterwards.
Honey bees are the only species to suffer this fate, but the cost to the hive of losing some workers is worth it for an improved ability to repel honey thieves.
Why The Honey Bees dies after stinging a human You
A honeybee’s stinger is made of two barbed lancets. When the bee stings, its not possible to pull the stinger back out. It leaves behind not only the stinger but also part of its digestive tract, plus muscles and nerves. This massive abdominal rupture is what kills the bee.
Importance Of Bees to the ecosystem
Bees are so important in diverse ways in completing the co existence of the ecosystem. As dangerous as they may look in their tiny nature , the following are the benefit the ecosystem derives from Bees :
- pollination of Plant. – The transfer of pollen grains from the male anther of a flower to the female stich can not always possible without the aid of this amazing flying creature and thus making bees as important creatures as they are .
- The produce Honey : Honey is one of the healthy natural product gained from the honey bee. It is used for several purposes including medication and healthy maintenance.
Wild Plant Growth
Many species of wild plants depend on insect pollinators as well. Bees are responsible for the production of many seeds, nuts, berries, and fruit, which serve as a vital food source for wild animals.
